How often have you heard that old saw in the construction industry? ‘Conventional wisdom’ says that owners can’t have it all. When in fact–by taking the right approach–you can turn an old saying into a smarter strategy: ‘Good fast and cheap: pick all three.’ It starts by accepting a fundamental truth that, on the surface, may seem counterintuitive: If you want premium quality, on time and within your budget, you can’t start with cost. Design Management: Why Owners Get a Better Result

The lines have been blurred in terms of what constitutes a traditional or alternate delivery process. “Integrated” project deliveries, “design – build” and “design – assist” delivery models have all gained popularity recently. While the overall market place may be experiencing a shift in terms of size and availability of projects, the fact that Owners need and demand a high quality project, delivered on time and on budget are still of paramount importance.
